With an unbeatable position right on Chesil Beach, the Cove is a great place to watch the sun setting. The pub has a pretty good food menu, with daily specials - if you are there on a Wednesday night there is a Curry night with 2 curries for £6 - great value. They also have live music with a traditional music session on a Thursday night.

The New Inn is the closest we get to having a local. There is live music nearly every weekend, either on a Friday or a Saturday. We haven't tried the food, but the service is always quick and there is a good mixed crowd and a nice atmosphere.
The George is one of the oldest pubs on the island and home to Portland's historic "Court Leet". The pub is the island's only entry in the Good Beer Guide and has a range of beers on tap. Live music from time to time, although they don't do food in the evenings. You can buy Pork Scratchings though - which believe it or not are made on the island !
A good stopping place on the way back from Church Ope Cove. It's a bit like someone's lounge, and you may get moved from your table if someone wants to play darts ! The food is pretty average fare - but not bad.
